As unpleasant as it may sound people need to be reminded that that the world is unsafe and unpredictable, and at a moments notice they could lose everything… chaos is always out there, lurking beyond the horizon. Once we accept the fact that situations beyond our control often occur without warning we can begin to train openly and honestly.

Beyond this fact of life there is little philosophy that will help us in an actual attack. So we PRACTICE. We practice being aware of dangerous situations; we practice facing an aggressor; we practice freeing ourselves from hesitation, self-doubt and fear. We practice closing the distance between ourselves and an attacker; establishing solid controlling positions; remaining calm during the course of the ensuing struggle; and ending an altercation with appropriate and efficient measure.
